Hi!
I'm Peter Wright
I’m often asked how I became a Medicare agent. My career kicked off in engineering – a far cry from health insurance. I worked on a chemical plant and an oil refinery and I managed a precision engineering company.
So how did I land up as a Medicare agent?
My story
My career was stopped in its tracks in my mid-40s when I was diagnosed with a debilitating form of Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was unable to continue working. I started claiming Social Security disability benefits which made me eligible for Medicare. I rapidly discovered how complicated it is to navigate Medicare.
Turning adversity into opportunity
As I shared my story with others, I quickly noticed just how many people are experiencing a similar predicament to mine – trying to:
- Choose the right Medicare plan
- Make sure their doctors and specialists are covered
- Check all their prescription medicines are included in the plan’s drug list
- Figure out how to cover exorbitant medical costs, especially for a chronic condition or critical illness
- Get all the right Medicare benefits
- Avoid costly mistakes with their plan choice
When I was able to return to work, I realized that helping people enroll in Medicare was something I
could do very well. I truly understand people’s frustrations about Medicare and worries about finding
the right coverage at an affordable price. Of course, there was lots of training plus ongoing continuous
learning and annual exams.
Since 2016 I’ve guided hundreds of seniors across North Carolina, from the Atlantic to the Blue Ridge
mountains, through their health care journey.
My mission
My mission as a Medicare agent is threefold. I want to:
- Make the complex task of choosing and enrolling in Medicare as clear and easy as possible
- Help you pick the best plan available in your county to meet your needs and budget
- Guide you through the enrollment process and check in annually to ensure your plan still works for you
What I believe
TREAT ALL PEOPLE WITH RESPECT, no matter what your race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or background is.
BE POSITIVE. If you face a challenge, don’t give up. Learn how to see things differently and do better.
HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY. If I can’t find you a better plan than the one you’re currently enrolled in, I’ll tell you. I won’t try to enroll you in any old plan, just to make a sale.
HAVE A GOOD LAUGH. Sometimes it’s good to see the lighter side.
